Our First Prototype: A Mini Wind Turbine

by | Mar 1, 2025

Proof of Concept
As part of our early research, we constructed a small-scale wind turbine prototype designed to function on a modest budget. Our goal was to see how effectively it could capture wind currents on the Karachi coastline.

Design Highlights
Made from lightweight materials and equipped with locally sourced blades, our mini turbine measures just under one meter in diameter. It’s efficient enough to power a small LED setup—an excellent way to demonstrate feasibility.

Real-World Testing
We tested the turbine on our university’s rooftop, collecting data on wind speeds, power output, and structural stability. This real-world data helped refine our calculations for larger-scale projects.

Next Steps
This prototype lays the groundwork for more advanced models. With community backing and further research, we hope to scale up and install pilot turbines in select neighborhoods around Karachi.
